So I wore this outfit to work today...cute, huh? (Thanks to my niece, Roni for putting it together for me). Anyway, I was walking out of my office today and an older woman stopped me and said, "I want to look like you." I just laughed and thanked her (I laughed because she was about 8 inches shorter than I am). She went on to tell me that she used to be thin like me but she's gained 50 pounds and doesn't know what to do to loose it. She asked me to tell her just one thing that I do to keep in shape. I told her I always eat a healthy breakfast. She walked away dejected and said, "I only like pancakes, waffles, and cinnamon rolls." Well, there you go!
What is your ONE thing you do to be healthy and stay in shape?

You just have that way about you! I wanna be like you too!! I noticed we are lacking here with healthy responses! I will return to find out what people say!! I have my best success when I walk everyday. Love you! How is Michael?
Fabulous outfit!! And I so want to be like you too!! I should eat a better breakfast- it's 930 and I haven't' eaten a thing- and I am busy packing- I should stop now...but then I remember that I really don't like breakfast- maybe that's one of my problems!!
So glad you have posted. I have missed you! You do look great and always do.
I have 2 secrets. One is Craig and I have used Isagenix for 5 years. A yummy shake full of tremendous nutrition. And so good for our bods.
The other is I think about what I eat EVERYDAY. If I/we over do it we just cleanse (Isagenix again!). No big deal.
You do look nice...I started watching my weight and eating healthier last October (birthday #50). I made little changes like keeping a food diary and eating one cookie instead of three and making sure to exercise every day. It worked. I have lost 15-18 lbs. since then. Now, I love the compliement "Have you lost weight? It looks like you are going to loose your pants." Well, maybe I should get some smaller pants! Love your posts.
You're completely adorable. I came back to see the other healthy tips because I sure don't do anything to keep healthy. I'm the one who eats 12 cookies. So what do you eat for breakfast? I had honey nut cheerios and a piece of toast this morning. Better than a pop tart right? I think you should dedicate a whole post to healthy breakfast options!
That's hilarious--her final comment, that is. I try to exercise daily. Your outfit does look good!
Well, funny you should ask......Three years ago, I was jogging 2 miles a day in the park with my friend every morning! I was hiking, and thin, and enjoying life to the fullest. Then...I began to stay home every day to watch my grandson. He comes at 5:30 in the morning. There goes my jog in the park. Now, 3 years later, I am at least 40 lbs overweight, and totally out of shape. As soon as Greg is better, we are beginning a fitness routine in the evenings. And I am starting to use my treadmill too. YOU are a beautiful lady!!
OH...and I was an avid Weight Watchers attender. I am a life time member..but a sorry one now!!
You look amazing! Great to get a compliment like that. I think the key is simple... eat less and move more! The application ... not so simple.
That is funny what her comment was about breakfast. I try to always do things in moderation, and I also try to eat a big healthy breakfast too when I can. I read somewhere once that we should eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince, and dinner like a beggar. So I think of that often too.
You do look great, and your outfit was super cute.
Haha I love that story and i love even more that I made the blog! I'm definitely not in that great of shape but I start my day with either a zone bar or a cup of plain oatmeal and sometimes a couple eggs (that's only when I didn't wake up late).
I agree with you about a healthy breakfast- I try for that too and think it is important. Pancakes are ok occasionally, but there is no losing wait if you eat that stuff everyday. I have a lot to lose so I am not much one to talk, but in addition to a healthy breakfast, I do drink lots of water and am learning to exercise regularly and watch portions.
And, waaaaay cute outfit! I want to be like you for your style! :)
You do look FaBUlOuS!!!! I've always tried to exercise each day, but I must be getting old because it's just not enough these days. I unfortunately have to watch what I eat now. Two things I've learned.. 1. eat an hour after you wake up to "jumpstart" your metabolism and 2. eat small, healthy meals every two to three hours.
Hi Lauri!
Fun blog post! I love walking and eating healthy - that's two things instead of one - but they're both really vital for me. It's a joy to feel good, that's for sure!
Happy June!! Love, Rebecca
P.S. How is Michael? We think of him often ~
I concur with Melissa...but must admit our new daughter in law Natalie is teaching us all kinds of new things...and those are just a couple of them. The one thing I've learned over the years is 'just do it'....don't wait any longer start TODAY!
yes, very cute outfit! and who wouldn't want to look and be like you! i stick to yoga and hiking... when i can fit it in anyway.
