I have a question...

Does anyone do this any  more?

When I was a young girl, my mother used to iron for hours. That was when EVERYTHING was 100% cotton and ironing was quite a chore.   I think she was thrilled when I could help her with some of it.  I usually ironed the pillow cases.

After I got married and through out the time I was raising our children, I had an "ironing day" when I would do all of the ironing.  Eventually, my kids started ironing their own clothes...even my boys ironed their dress shirts for church.

I still iron nearly everything I wear, although I don't do it on a regular basis.  I wait until I have a large stack, then I turn on a good movie, and iron away.

Recently, I was having a conversation with some of my friends about ironing and was surprised that no one irons any more.  One of my friends said that she didn't even own an iron (I'm not going to rat out who said that!)  We all agreed that we take things right out of the dryer and hang them up.  I do that--but  I am crazy enough to add an extra step and also press everything.

I'm curious to know who else irons?

We have been having an ironing discussion at our house lately. I actually like ironing my husbands nice work shirts because I feel like I am doing something nice for him. He is used to throwing them in the dryer for a few min. in the morning with a damp towel to get wrinkles out so he says "You don't need to iron those" so I explained I like to because I feel like its something nice and special I can do so he now just lets me and acts gracious and grateful but I know he thinks its silly =). I also love ironing pleats, hems etc while sewing things. SO I guess yes I do iron, minimally, though I do not know many people who do.

I'm with you -- I iron work and Sunday clothing for me and my husband. Casual stuff I mostly just wear without ironing. I don't iron Josh's t-shirts and shorts (his usual attire). I feel better about myself in ironed clothing, although it is very time consuming. Have a good weed.

I don't iron much, although freshly laundered and ironed sheets really are the best!

Occasionally I will iron a dress shirt and the girls have a couple of things I iron but that's about it.

I iron!!! I have ALWAYS ironed! I iron all of Greg's work clothes. I do all of clothing, in fact. I try to keep ahead of it, but I keep my ironing board set up in my sewing room, so it is out of the way, and I just do it. I don't mind at all.

EVERY single morning. :-) It's like therapy for me watching those wrinkles disappear.

I iron! But I've had the same conversations with friends who say that they never iron

What is this "iron" thing you speak of?! ;) he he.... ya.... I NEVER iron. I own one but only use it on the rarest occasions when I have to- maybe once a year! ;)

I remember ironing pillow cases when I was growing up. I'm glad they are no longer 100% cotton! I still iron all of Brent's shirts (dress and casual) and a lot of my clothes too. There is just a crisp clean look to something that has been ironed!

I iron! For sure. How does one do without it? I love to see the wrinkles smoothed away and a nice crease in place. Finally, I have learned that vinegar takes out a double crease.

No ironing for me! I used to try and iron Trevor's shirts for him, but then he made the mistake of telling me he couldn't even notice that I did (they are "wrinke-free shirts). So I stopped. It's been quite a few years. I only bust out my iron a few times a year if even that. I totally remember my mom's HUGE ironing pile and her requiring a TV in the laundry room so she'd have some entertainment.

I iron EVERYTHING and I really LOVE it. In fact, it's my favorite household "chore". I have a couple of temple dresses that are cotton and they each take about an hour but they look so nice when I'm finished. I must admit, however, that I do have to work myself up to ironing them, they are a "project". The laundry has always been a love of mine and that includes ironing.

My husband irons most of his things. Anything of mine that needs ironing, hangs in the closet!
