Inquiring Minds Want to Know

For those of you who asked how my first week at the new job went, let me tell you...FABULOUS! Normally when you start a new job, there is a learning curve and you feel stupid for a while. Although I don't know all of the ins and outs of this position and program I'm over, I feel well prepared for it.
  • I feel that I have somthing to offer and that my suggestions are listened to
  • I am able to use some of my talents, skills, education, and experience
  • I love being treated like a professional
  • I have met the president of the college
  • I like being able to dress up each day (I have been living in jeans for way too long)
  • It is a positive work environment
  • The people I have met and that I work with are extremely friendly
  • There were 4 Christmas parties (from different departments I'm associated with) that I attended this week

I think I'm going to like this job.

That is such great news Lauri! I love being able to "dress up" for work a couple days a week myself. It feels good. I am glad it's gone well so far!

Congratulations on the new job!! I'm sure they'll love you there! And it's nice that you only have to do the commute 3 times a week for now.

Wow- what great news!! My personal favorite is that you get to dress up again!! I love that you mentioned that, because that is one thing I love about teaching too- I feel "important" when I am not in my jeans and dressed in nice shoes and pants or whatever- I feel like a "colleague" and not just a parent, like I have been all these years prior to working again! Love that!! Congrats and tell more!!

How WONDERFUL that you found a job! It sounds perfect for you. My son Alex went through such an "early college" program at Chandler Gilbert Community College and earned about 24 hours credit and got all of his "requirements" out of the way. It's a great program. Congratulations! You will do really well. (Let's do that hike early in January :-D )
