Really? I loved Barbie when I was a young girl but I wouldn't have considered her my best friend nor did I believe she inspired me.
As I have been thinking about this, I found this information on-line:

- If Barbie were an actual women, she would be 5'9" tall, have a 39" bust, an 18" waist, 33" hips and a size 3 shoe.
- Barbie calls this a "full figure" and likes her weight at 110 lbs.
- At 5'9" tall and weighing 110 lbs, Barbie would have a BMI of 16.24 and fit the weight criteria for anorexia. She likely would not menstruate.
- If Barbie was a real woman, she'd have to walk on all fours due to her proportions.
- Slumber Party Barbie was introduced in 1965 and came with a bathroom scale permanently set at 110 lbs with a book entitled "How to Lose Weight" with directions inside stating simply "Don't eat."
No wonder so many girls have body image issues.

I had heard some of those figures previously but I had no idea about the slumber party Barbie! Oh, wow. What sick person busts out the scale at a slumber party anyway? I thought the whole point of those parties was to have an excuse to eat chocolate at midnight. Maybe that's my problem...Haha :P
Pretty sad!
How sad is that!
I haven't seen that commercial but I hate that. Especially as a mother of daughters!
I haven't seen that commercial. Those stats about Barbie are very interesting. I liked playing with Barbie as a little girl, but can say I was never really "inspired" by her.
Wow- interesting and scary...
