This weekend, I hosted a bridal shower brunch (with the help of my sister-in-law and Lucy's sister) at my home. I have been a little hesitant to have large parties here because I always think this house is too small for a large group. It was a beautiful spring day and I opened my french doors and made the patio part of my house so I ended up having people in my family room and the back patio as well as the dining area (where the food was). It turned out well and accommodated the large crowd rather well.
This is Lucy, the bride to be. I was her Young Women leader for a few years. Lucy has a lot of spunk and is so much fun to be around. She was sweet and gracious throughout the morning.

Here is the food table. I was pleased with the way it turned out. We served crepes. I made 150 crepes the night before and was surprised at how quickly they were finished. Then we had loads of fillings...whipped cream, strawberries, pineapple, bananas, and apple pie filling. Add to that the sauces: chocolate, butterscotch, and butter cream. Then the toppings: chocolate hazelnut spread, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, and coconut. We also had a large basket of mini muffins and cinnamon rolls--some home made and some store bought. I had fun with the center piece...a load of oranges and the bright pink Gerber Daisies (which I found for a steal-only $1.00 each!)

This is Lucy's talented sister, Holly, and her wonderful mother, Wendy. Wendy has become a dear friend of mine here in Arizona.

And this is me and my sister-in-law, Debbie, with Lucy.
I think I should have had a houseful of daughters. I just love planning weddings. Giving showers helps me get my fill without all of the stress. Best wishes to you Lucy!

Lauri, I always remember you being such a wonderful party planner! That spread looks amazing...I would love for you to add some of those recipes on here sometime. And what a great idea to do the oranges with the gerber daisies!!
I am starving now- thanks for the yummy details about the crepes! What a gorgeous spread and set-up!
Sounds like a wonderful event. It's so great that you do these kind of things for your Young Women; how neat for them to feel like their Young Women's leader is also their friend.
I will never forget all that you have done, not only for Lucy but for me as well. You are my friend. That is a powerful thing. You have taught me, supported me, and loved me. It was a perfect day! I love you, Wendy
I love the table! So cute. I remember you made crepes for my shower too... they were delicious :)
It looks perfect. I'm glad it turned out so well.
Mmmmmm, crepes!!!! I love crepes! What a pretty buffet table you set! I am sure the party turned out perfect!! Girly parties are so fun to plan. I enjoy that too. Where did you get your cool wire stand where you have your dishes set on for the buffet? LOVE it!! And I love the oranges in the vase with Gerbery Daisies poking out the top!
What an amazing shower! She is truly lucky to have a friend like you! Sounds delicious!!! I am hungry now too! :) I am sure they are memories she will treasure forever. :)
What a fun looking party, I especially love the centerpiece, I'm going to steal the idea! The food looks yummy too!! I love giving a party every now and then because then I am forced to really clean my house. You're lucky to be living in AZ at this time of year, it would have been too cold to open our doors this weekend.
You've got a perfect house for parties (as long as it is not an afternoon get-together when it is 115 degrees outside). Looks beautiful and delicious.
Hostess with the mostest I must say! You know how to make a day special! Love that about you!
Beautiful table! You're so talented! Looks like it was a great shower!
Everything you touch becomes beautiful. You can make beauty out of the simplest items.
No matter what you say 150 crepes is no easy fete. The shower was certainly a gift of love, for which, you certainly are full of.
