When I was a young girl, I always wore one these when I went swimming. It kept my home-done perm looking good and kept my mom from having to do my hair more than once a day. I am voting for a come-back for swimming caps. It's getting so expensive to keep my hair color looking good and since I'm in the pool daily, I have to do something to protect my hair...not just from the chlorine but from the sun, which bleaches out my hair much faster than I want it to.
Besides my hair, I also have to protect my skin. From what I understand, Arizona is one of the worst places in the WORLD for skin cancer. I can remember being a teen and laying out with baby oil or cocobutter on to try to get a tan. What were we thinking? Now I'm all about protecting myself. Today I put on my big floppy straw hat and my sunglasses when I did my water areobics in the pool. Ridiculous, I know. Maybe I'll get me a new suit next. What do you think about one like these?

You could totally pull off that cute cap. The swim suit? Not so much.
I know exactly what you mean...however I recently saw an ad for a company that has revisited the more modest (and sun-safe) swimming suits of the past and I was impressed. I think I'm getting one of those suits next time. It is great to be able to spend time in the pool again, isn't it?
I remember going to the neighborhood "plunge" as we called it, and wearing my white flowerd cap. Remember the smell of the plastic cap and how it pulled your dry hair...ouch! And the smell of the chlorine at those public pools!!!
Wow!
I love the cap for keeping hair nice- but the suit, well, I am not so sure!
I agree with Katie, the swim cap, yes! The swim suit, no!
Those suits would be soooooo you....
(lol :))
Full coverage is the only way to go.
I remember the caps too. As for the suit...it's before my time but I could go for it.
Have you see the original..Cheaper by the Dozen? I love the scene with the daughters at the beach. The swimsuits which we would call So Modest are reprehensible to the father. It is a great moment.
Good luck with the dilemma.
I am with Katie, if anyone could wear that suit...it would be you, but then with your athletic and trim bod...you could get away with anything!
I think you could start a swim cap trend. Give it a try! Especially one with lots of plastic flowers on it.
I think we would all drown wearing so much fabric under water with those suits though. You should get one of those diving skins. It's not a wet suit, it's thinner and sometimes has cool patterns on it. You are the only one I know of that has a figure for one though.
I actually LOVE those hats and think they are SO cute. I've seen them recently--maybe they're making a comeback! If I could shove one over my hair I would--but then people would think it was a real live flower patch because it would be so huge.
I think those caps should come back in style too! They would really help out the condition of peope's dry and bleached hair nowadays. Start wearing one and let us know what the response seems to be. ;)
Are you kidding me, they still make those things. Yeap, you are dating yourself there. Nevertheless, you're right they do the job. :-)
