What have I been Up to? Not much!

I'm having a hard time blogging lately. It's not that nothing happens in my life, I just can't write about it. When I was teaching middle school, I constantly entertained you with stories of crazy adolescents. Now I work with crazy community college students and their stories are every bit as entertaining but due to the nature of my work, I can't write about it. However, suffice it to say, I deal with lots of student who plagiarize and commit other forms of cheating, threaten teachers, stalk other students and other misc. types of sexual harassment, are disruptive in class, and the list could go on. Never a dull moment. So...since I am there for a good part of my day, that doesn't leave much time for other things that I could blog about.

However, I did find a few minutes to make some new curtains last week. I re-discovered SAS Fabrics. I haven't been there since I was probably 20 years old (and truth be told, there was probably some fabric in the store that had been there 30 years ago). Anyway, it is a junky fabric store but if you are patient and don't mind sorting through a lot of muck, you can find some real treasures. Some of it you buy by the pound, other is just very inexpensive. I got this for $1.99 a yard. I started these at 9:30 in the evening and they were finished and hanging by 11:00. So easy! Not only that, total cost of fabric and rods was $22.00 for 2 windows~

BEFORE:

I made these years ago and was just tired of them. Not only that, I was tired of looking at the 70's dark wood around the window and was ready to cover it up.

AFTER:

In other news: My search is still on for the perfect dress for Jeff's wedding. However, I did manage to find this cute skirt while I was on the hunt.

Totally not something I would usually wear but thought it was fun. I'm looking for a navy blue and white striped shirt to go with it. I have a big workshop I'm doing at school next week and want to have the outfit together by then. Stay tuned.

(in case you're wondering what is written on the white board, it says, Chocolate and Men...some things are just better rich).

And before I sign off...this is what I wore to work one day last week. I wasn't sure about it so I took a picture and sent it to Katie and asked her if I looked OK. I just can't seem to dress myself any more.

I love the new curtains you made. You are so very talented. The outfits that you post always look great, but I think that we as women often doubt ourselves...I know I will often ask my husband if my outfit is OK and he ALWAYS says its lovely and then 5 minutes later I change my clothes. Go figure!

You are so cute! I love how crafty you are and you always dress so perfect! Please help me with my curtains! I think they are as old as the wood you are tired of looking at around your window!

You think you have trouble getting dressed - now that I don't have you around to copy, I really struggle. Not that was every actually able to copy, but you have such great style you inspired me to dress better:) Nice job on the curtains, and are you saying that cc students are just older middle schoolers? Yikes.
