1. WATER. Did you ever think you'd PAY for a bottle of water? Remember when we were kids and we used to drink out of the garden hose?
2. TELEVISION. We used to put rabbit ears on top of the television and could watch 4-5 stations for free. We had never even heard of cable!
3. LUGGAGE. That's right folks, you could check 2 bags of luggage when you got on the airplane. Now it's at least $25.00 a bag. Pretty pricey if you're taking a family on a week long vacation. It makes a road trip sound much more desirable these days.
4. There was a day when the BANK actually paid you to keep your money there. Have you noticed how many fees we are charged these days?
5. DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE. Once upon a time, you could actually ask a real person to look up a number for you and they would. Free of charge!
Things are really changing, aren't they? I can see that as I become an old timer, I will start playing the "when I was a kid..." game more and more often.

Isn't it scary too? Nordstrom used to hem your slacks or skirts for free when you bought them there. Not anymore! I am sure there are many, many more things that will come to me later!!
this world is becoming very greedy! Like really.... 44 cents a STAMP!! i mean I know I didnt ever used to buy stamps, but now that I have to... it really adds up! 50 bucks for 100 stamps, ridiculous!
I used to be able to look things up in the encyclopedia for free. Now I pay for internet.
Our family used to survive sharing one phone in the house for a very low cost. Now we pay charges for 5 phones (and pay separate internet charges for 2 of them).
The water issue kind of gets to me. It's hard to even find a drinking fountain any more.

You are right! What about service stations? You could get gas pumped FOR you, windows washed, oil checked and air in the tires for FREE!
