As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I feel grateful to to know there is a living prophet on earth who has been called to speak for the Lord just as prophets in times of old. As in times past, our prophet testifies of Jesus Christ and teaches his gospel. Twice a year, we are blessed to be able to hear words of counsel from the prophet and other church leaders as we have a world wide church conference. As a child, I remember going to the church building and listening to an audio only broadcast. That was a long meeting for a young child. Today, I am grateful that there are so many ways for me to hear the voice of the prophet: through the Internet (http://www.lds.org/), through cable on BYU television, through satellite at all local church buildings, and here in Arizona, conference is broadcast on a local television station (I love that I can do conference in my PJ's and enjoy home made cinnamon rolls while I'm watching).
I am looking forward to hearing words of counsel, hope, and encouragement from our leaders.

Me too!!
Me too, except that since we don't have BYU TV on our cable, we will watch it on the computer, in the cool basement- cool, meaning cold and uncomfortable! Oh well, it's still well worth it!
I so look forward to this weekend. Two days of inspiration and love, and as you said hope and encouragement..It is such blessing.
Lauri,
In an effort to better understand the Mormom faith, we have been meeting with two Elders that Greg met on a walk one evening. They have come the past few Thursday evenings. It has beena friendly and informative discussion, involving several of Drew's friends and Greg, and me, off and on, when I am not making a cake. We have learned a lot. They are very nice young men.
Well now I know one more option to watch general conference. Go to YOUR house and enjoy cinnamon rolls!
Amen. What a great post!
I am looking forward to watching on the internet here in a couple hours! Technology is amazing!!! :)
Conference was wonderful. It is amazing that the Apostles and Prophets can speak to us as we sit in our own home. It feels special to gather with family and eat something yummy and listen. Although, I never hear as well as I read what they say. Their words penetrate my soul deeper by reading and studying.
I probably don't do much more than you do in regards to reading the conference talks. But, I am happy to share.
For the last 3 conferences I have done something I really like. I take a lined piece of paper and give each Apostle 2 lines and the Presidency 3 or 4. Them I write the most impt. things they said so I can find at a glance a quote or thought that I don't want to forget.
I always take the conference Ensign to church with me so that I can cross reference with things I hear,
Cross referencing the talks with each other is another fun thing to do.
I teach a weekly scripture class. I try each week to relate the concepts were are studying that day with a talk from Conference. Each member of the class brings their Ensign weekly knowing that we will be using it often. I love talking about the talks with the ladies in class.
Another thing is I pay special attention for the Apostles or Pres'y saying 'I urge' and "I plead".
And I mark the magazine up..probably like you do.
Share with me what you like to do. I would love to know.
We had cinnamon rolls too! Conference was wonderful and inspiring!
