Visitors!

I've got company coming this weekend. The daughter of one of my college friends is attending NAU. I told her that if she ever needed to get away for a few days, my house has a few extra bedrooms that are available. So she took me up on it and is coming this afternoon. In anticipation of company, I took a look at my guest room---cleaned it up, rearranged some of the furniture, and got some new lighting.

I always forget about this one thing though...The previous owners put up glow in the dark stars all over the ceiling. Not just a few but an entire galaxy. Last night I started taking them down. I worked for an hour and took about 30 of them off and wasn't even half way done. Erin will have to deal with it. And probably so will the next several guests who stay in that room. It is going to be a real challenge to remove them all.

Here's a peek into one of the guest rooms.

Check out the table beside the bed...another thriftstore find that was transformed by a can of spraypaint. I also bought that lamp for $8.00 and re-made the lampshade with left over fabric from the bedding.
This little rocker belonged to my grandmother. I remember her telling me that she got it with S&H Green Stamps (as I remember, you got a certain number of stamps with grocery purchases. You could then exchange them for prizes). It used to be green velvet but I re-did it several years ago to go in this room.
(they say you should always leave out water for your guests so they don't have to go looking in the middle of the night. I also included a small bag of cinnamon bears. When her mother and I were at BYU, we made many stops by the sweet shoppe for these. Not sure if Erin has the same fondness for them as her mother but we'll see)

Anyone else want to come for a visit?

What a nice welcoming room Lauri! She will undoubtedly appreciate your thoughtfulness. The water is so cute with her own label. Aren't you clever?
Love the room.
Enjoy your friend's daughter!

You really could open your own bed and breakfast. You'd be good at it. Why don't you start looking into that route.

Plus, keep the stars...we LOVE them.

I love it! :) Those glow in the dark stars are fun, but they are a pain to take down! I helped my mom take some down a few weeks ago and it took the paint with it! Ahhh! So now we have to paint the ceiling too!

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! Stop by again soon!
