Did any of you see the big news? Last week the Most Annoying Words and Phrases were posted. Topping the list at 47% was Whatever (said like, "what EV ah"). Other annoying words were:
- ya know?
- it is what it is,
- at the end of the day...
- anyway
Clearly, my opinion wasn't asked in this poll because I'm just sick of hearing the word Literally (said, "LIT-rally"). Anyone else heard that too often in conversation? I hear, "I have literally been on the phone all morning long." (Really? Because it's only 9:00 right now). Or "I literally ate the entire cake in one setting." (Seriously? The ENTIRE cake?)
Folks--let me give you the definition of literally. In the literal or strict sense. Actually; without exageration.
There you have it. NOW USE IT CORRECTLY!
Do any of you have over-used or annoying phrases that you'd like to air? This is the place!

Whatever Mom...this is a fun post and all, ya know, but at the end of the day, all I want is to see your sewing room. It's literally all I can think about.
Anyway, it is what it is.
hahahahaha my family always says the world literally as a joke. We say it lit-rally. It is used a little too often. Literally.
LOL...yes, I agree. But MY pet peeve phrase is...................
"These ones"
THAT KILLS ME!!!!
PS Cracking UP at Katie's clever response!!!!
And yes....hurry up with the sewing room post!!!
ha ha! Katie's comment made me laugh!!! You two are definitely related ;) One thing my husband says a lot (and I have caught other people doing this too) that drives me crazy is when he asks someone what they want to do, he says "do you want to do this er....." Instead of saying "do you want this or that?" Finish your sentence!!! ;)
Seriously!! (Though I've been using that word myself too much--) I have been so bugged about "literally" overusage myself! I just heard that DJs overuse it all the time. I hate the overuse of it so much that I'm afraid to use it in CONTEXT! I've never liked "it is what it is". and one that I've also grown to dislike, though its easy to think it or say it is "honestly". My former boss pointed out to me that if you preface something with "honestly", or "to be completely honest with you...", what does that mean the other times? (Of course most people ARE honest but after he pointed that out, its bugged me.) I think most people just use it as a buffer when they're saying something bold.
I am laughing right now this was so funny. It drives me crazy when people say literally. It use to annoy me so bad but now if someone says it in a conversation it takes everything I have to keep from cracking up.
