My thought was to paint it a nice cream color and then put a glaze over it that would soak into the cracks and corners. I put the first coat of paint on it then lightly sanded it before the second coat. I found that I liked the sanded edges so just left it like that. It gave it a shabby chic look. I'm a very messy painter so before I cleaned up, I decided to also add some paint to the mirrors. they were a bright, shiny gold so I sponged some black onto it (but not so much that you can't see the gold through it). Oh, and there was also a huge drawer between the two sinks. I took it out, painted the inside area, added a basket and made a animal print liner for it. Here's the finished look: Let me also show you a close up of the arrangement I put together.
It makes me smile whenever I look at it.
Now I'm on the look out for an eclectic collection of door knobs--like the kind they have at Anthropology---only cheaper! (I need 10 of them.)
Stay tuned for my latest project. I'm working on a new look for my sewing room!

Nice change for your bathroom. You are so very creative. I love your fun decorating ideas.
Oooh, I love what you did. Looks so pretty. I love the animal print liner for your basket too. And love the mirrors. I would never have thought to do that, but it looks really great.
This is great! I love what you do to make things look so nice and what a pleasure it is to have our home look so pleasant!
Good job and thanks for sharing - can't wait to see the sewing room!
LOVE it!! Love the basket in the center!!! Next is our bathroom. I have done the cabinets in the other two, and love the creamy white. I was contemplating black for our room????? Can't wait to see your sewing room.
I too am on a first name basis with the paint guy at Walmart!!
PS I toned down the gold in ALL of the frames in my house with black paint or bronzer. I will take pics of the kitchen ones.
I'm dying to see the sewing room...could you get on that?!!
Super chic!! LOve them!
I could sooooo use someone like you in my house. It needs serious help. Your house looks great! :)
WOW! You have an eye for beauty!
Fabulous Darling!
Paint makes all the difference..so does makeup!
I love it all! I think you're so brave to tackle such a big job, i.e., taking off cabinet doors 'n all. Just go ahead and get the knobs at Anthropology, after all, you've already saved a ton of money doing that painting by yourself. Can't wait to see the sewing room.
Good work!! They look awesome! and I love the arrangement! Pure talent right there :)
