Did I mention that I got a new job?

Well, I did.

I started 2 weeks ago.  I am the office manager at a private elementary school in Scottsdale.  Interestingly, I had two opportunities that came up at the same time...a university position and this elementary school position.  Completely different, right?  At first it seemed like a no brainer; I would definitely prefer working at the university level.  But I just had a really good feeling about this other position and after a lot of consideration, I took the office manager job.

I couldn't be happier.  I haven't felt so welcomed or so appreciated in a working situation for a very long time.  It is a very positive work environment, the benefits are excellent, the hours are wonderful (I'm home before 4:30) and because it is a school, I get all of the school vacations.

The parent organization is incredible and are always doing things for the teachers and staff.  Today was a half day for the students so the parent organization brought lunch in  for all of us (apparently they do that for every half day...once a month).  They are also planning a quarterly breakfast for us next week to celebrate all of the birthdays for the next three months.

One of the down falls of a new job is that you feel stupid for the first little while as you're learning the ropes.  Today I cam home feeling competent once again and I knew what I was doing all day long and was able to actually direct those I am responsible for rather than ask them questions all day.

Aah...life is good.
