I have a single friend who mentioned to me that her pool vacuum was broken. She went in to a pool supply store and they sold her a new pool vac and told her it was a breeze to put together. After working on it for a few hours, she gave up. Like me, she hates to ask for help so told me that if she could just look at mine, she was sure she could get it together. Anyway, she came over the other day with the entire package that she bought. We realized right away that it wasn't the same kind of vacuum and she was about to call someone and I said, let's try it together. Funny how working together clarifies everything. Within a few minutes, we had the whole thing assembled but now it was time to hook it up to the pool pump and get it to actually vacuum.
We got it all hooked up except for the last piece and realized that she had a defective part. After exchanging it this morning, she called me to tell me the vac was up and running. WOW! We actually did it...without help.
I have found that there are several things that I have learned to do since I have no one else to do them for me. For instance, I have learned to fix/replace broken sprinkler heads and even to repair broken sprinkler pipes. I have replaced plumbing underneath the kitchen sink, patched dry wall, torn out dry wall, learned to caulk, and the list continues to grow.
Never underestimate the power of an independent (cheap) woman!

You inspire me!! Learning all that is so great- I have learned to do a few things myself, but only because I like to get things done when I want them done, on my time and terms!! I am impressed!! Oh, and I am cheap too!
Yay for you! That is awesome! That is something I have thought about recently. There have been so many times where I was sure I could figure something out but chose not to try because Aaron was there and I knew he could, so I just have him do it. I know I am smart enough to do it- just lazy I suppose. This is inspiring to me! :)
You go girl!!!
Woo Hoo Girlfriend! I am with you, I know there are more things I could do, but have chosen to pass on to Russell when I can. You are an inspiration. I wish I didn't have to work 9+ hours a day, so I could do more fixing!
Do you have a cool tool belt? You know the kind - heavy tools make belt sag. Sagging belt makes pants sag - are you seeing my picture here?
