Mike Stud

To celebrate the end of the school year, I got on an airplane Friday afternoon and went up to Utah to visit Michael. Some of you may not know my oldest son, Michael but here he is:

He knows I love to hike so he took me on a great little hike up Mapleton Canyon. It was beautiful, the weather was wonderful, and there was a little stream along the side of the trail that added to the ambiance.

On the way back down, I was taking it slow so I didn't slip on the rocks, Michael just couldn't make himself walk that slowly so off he went (he didn't get too far ahead of me though before I caught up with him.)

Michael is a computer genius and is working for a company he LOVES. He took me by his office so he could get something running over the weekend.

Saturday night, we went up to SLC for dinner. We took his friend, Betheny along. Betheny used to live in Corona...she was one of the top-notch YW in our stake and I loved knowing her when I was stake YW president. Now she is a top-notch woman, return missionary, college graduate, etc. It was fun spending time with her. After dinner we went cosmic bowling. I can't say any of us were any good but we had fun!

Sunday I went to Michael's ward. I love going to student wards and yesterday was no exception. The testimonies shared and lessons taught were powerful. The church is in good hands with our young people.

I got home late last night and it is always nice to find my home still in one piece and all is well. Now I'm starting 2 new Masters classes today so life is back to normal. Thanks for a fun weekend, Michael.

One thing I forgot to mention is that on our way to SLC, I made Michael stop at a store I'd been dying to go in to. For about a year, I have been hearing about TAI PAN in Midvale, Utah. It is a home decor place with wholesale prices. I was in heaven but unfortunately, I had a little suitcase and didn't think I could carry too much home with me (probably a good thing or I might have spent a fortune!) I picked up 2 apocathary jars for only $2.00 each. When I went up to pay, I decided I could probably get 2 more home with me so I sent Michael back to pick them up. When she rang them up, they came up at 99cents each. Then I wished I'd had room for 10 of them! They are fairly good sized and would probably be $15.00 normally. What a steal!

So you couldn't figure out the videos? I think you should post a couple of them anyway.

I love Tai Pan!!! Do you know they opened a store in St George? I am thinking a road trip... :). Glad you had such a great trip and that you were able to see your son. Our oldest is in North Ogden and it seems so far away.

Hi Lauri,
I remember your Michael. Wow, he is a man, and not the boy I remember. That happens doesn't it!!
Hey, I would have shipped my stuff home from that great place!! I LOVE to find a good "stuff" store. My current fav is Kirkland for Home. I love to decorate, and I remember that about you as well. I am still quilting too.
Are you working on your masters?

Lauri,
I just googled Tai Pan and found out they are opening one up by me in Rancho Cucamonga soon. I can't wait to go check it out. I will keep you posted. You may have to make a trip back here to Corona to come shopping with me!

I ran into a friend from here in Corona when we were arriving at the airport for Brendon's graduation. He was there for training as he is in the management of the new Tai Pan store that is coming here to Rancho Cucamonga. I had not heard of it before that, and I am surely going to check it out if it received the Lauri Benson "super decorator" stamp of approval!

Ahhh I think I'd like some of those jars. Wholesale home goods. I think its worth a trip to Utah. :) I think I've heard of that store. Are you taking your masters courses at ASU? My sister is too. I too have always loved student wards. It seems like everyone is on fire. How fun to go to one again.
