I'm a princess...I got 2 crowns!

All of your comments on my last post made me cry...all of them. That wasn't the intention of the post. Anyway, I have to change it out and post something more uplifting ( if you can call dental work uplifting).

Apparently, fillings don't last forever. I've got a mouthful of silver fillings that were put in in the 1970's and after a dental visit on Monday, I found out that they were breaking down and causing havoc in my mouth. So yesterday I had to go in to start the process of having them re-done. I got 2 crowns and a re-fill on one tooth. Three teeth done and after the insurance paid out, my portion was $1100. YIKES! And that's only 1/4 of the work that needs to be done. AND my dental insurance is maxed out now until next June.

What a pleasant day!

I never knew dental work was that expensive, until my mom's eye tooth fell out the week of my wedding!! She was eating salad for goodness sakes!! $3000 later, she had to have an implant to replace it- and that didn't include the temporary tooth (I don't even know how they did it) that lasted only 3 weeks!! My mom said and I agree that we will never make fun of toothless people- because dental insurance is hardly worth it and the dental work is so expensive! I try to think of that when I see someone with bad teeth, then I try to take good care of mine!
So sorry about your crowns, but at least your teeth are in great shape now!!!

CROWNS....ugh!!! I would rather poke needles in my eye than go to the dentist. I literally make myself go for cleaning. Luckily, I haven't had to have anything other than that done in a long time! I suppose my fillings are all about due to fall out now too.
UGH!!!!!

Yikes- that is expensive...and painful! I can barely stand having fillings done- I have a hard time getting numb- takes forever and then I am numb for hours. I hate being numb, but prefer that to even an ounce of pain. Good luck- no fun at all. yuck!

That is some stinky work that has to be done. And a stinky dental bill. Don't you wish that after you spend all that money, people would say "oh my gosh - your teeth look marvelous!"
However, on the upside . . .um, let's see . . oh, I know -- the title of your post is brilliant!

I am going through the same thing. I got two crowns put in about 4 years ago and they are saying they need new ones. Plus (re-)fillings etc. I picked the most urgent (and least expensive) and have yet to spend $1200 more.. oh the joys of dentistry.. plus they always give you the most expensive way to get the work done when it's not always necessary..
